Blackhawks week ahead: Chicago vs. Los Angeles caps sleepy schedule
Chicago has a three-game week, including a matchup at home against the Kings.
The Chicago Blackhawks have a light week with three games on the schedule. Chicago hosts Calgary (Monday) and has the rest of the week off until Friday when they visit New Jersey. Coach Joel Quenneville’s team then travels back to Chicago for a tilt against Los Angeles.
The World Series begins Tuesday, and there are two games that do fall on the same night as Hawks games. The Cubs return to Wrigley Field for Game 3 on Friday and, hopefully, win the Series in Game 5 on Sunday.
Let's take a look at the upcoming week in Blackhawks' hockey (all times Central):
Monday - Flames at Blackhawks, 6:30 p.m. (NHLN-US, CSNC)
The Hawks kick off the week by hosting the Flames. Chicago dropped its home opener, but since then they’ve won three straight at the United Center, outscoring opponents 17-11. The Flames enter the contest on a two-game skid. Calgary has yet to win a road game this season, but did manage a point in a shootout loss at Vancouver.
The only other game on the schedule is the Flyers in Montreal.

Tuesday - Off day
There are 11 games on the schedule, including a NBCSN doubleheader: Buffalo at Philadelphia and Anaheim at San Jose. Another fun game to watch should be Steven Stamkos and Tampa Bay in Toronto.

Wednesday - Off day
Another off day with a Eastern Conference matchup on NBCSN: Boston visits the Rangers. A fun, high-paced game follows with the Oilers hosting the Capitals.

World Series: Game 2, Chicago at Cleveland, 7 p.m. (FOX)
Thursday - Off day
There are nine games on tap highlighted by an old divisional rivalry when Detroit visits St. Louis. Two Eastern Conference battles that should be entertaining will be John Tavares and the Islanders in Pittsburgh, while Montreal hosts Tampa Bay.

Friday - Blackhawks at Devils, 6:30 p.m. (WGN)
The Hawks return to the ice when they visit New Jersey. Chicago is 0-2 so far this season on the road having dropped identical 3-2 games in Nashville and Columbus earlier this month. The Devils have suffered the same fate so far, but unlike the Hawks they enter the week unbeaten at home by, you guessed it, identical 2-1 scores.

World Series: Game 3, Cleveland at Chicago, 7 p.m. (FOX)
Saturday - Off Day
There are 10 games on the schedule with the Battle for the Keystone State taking the prime spot on NHL Network with the Penguins visiting the Flyers. North of the border, the Maple Leafs visit the Bell Centre for an Atlantic Division tilt. The late night game features the two favorites in the West with Nashville visiting San Jose.

World Series: Game 4, Cleveland at Chicago, 7 p.m. (FOX)
Sunday - Kings at Blackhawks, 6 p.m. (NHLN-US, CSNC)
The Western Conference powers meet again. The Kings enter the game on the second half of a back-to-back having played in St. Louis the night before. Los Angeles dropped its first three games before needing more than 60 minutes to skate away with a win. They needed overtime to win in Dallas then a shootout back at home against Vancouver.
