Blackhawks, Bruins cap weekend series, this time in Chicago
A third-period rally doomed the Hawks when these teams met on Saturday.
The Chicago Blackhawks and Boston Bruins will switch venues and swap sweaters, playing their second game in as many days when the two teams meet up at the United Center on Sunday morning.
It’s basically a Mortal Kombat Mirror Match of Saturday’s game, which Boston won 7-4 thanks to a flurry of third-period goals. That game was a microcosm of each team’s recent fortunes. The Hawks were in the lead, but a bad rebound and dreadful penalty kill opened the door for a Bruins team that keeps finding ways to win, and Boston ran away with the game on the scoreboard.
Without a morning skate, projecting the Hawks’ lineup is largely a fool’s errand, but we’ll take a swing anyway. If Vinnie Hinostroza is back from the personal matters that had him miss Saturday’s game, he’d be expected to return to the second line while John Hayden would probably slot down to the fourth line to replace the injured Duclair. But if Hinostroza remains out, coach Joel Quenneville may opt to go with seven defensemen to round out his roster due to the lack of another forward to replace that hole in the lineup. Anton Forsberg figures to be the man in net, after Jean-Francois Berube’s start on Saturday. The Bruins lineup is also not expected to change much, with the noted exception of Anton Khudobin anticipated as the starting goalie following Tuukka Rask’s winning performance on Saturday.
