Watch: Blackhawks’ Brendan Perlini scores hat trick against his former team in Coyotes

Brendan Perlini scored his first career NHL hat trick Monday night for the Blackhawks against his former team in the Coyotes at the United Center.

Perlini, who was traded along with forward Dylan Strome from Arizona in November, tallied his first goal on a breakaway from a Brent Seabrook stretch pass at 6:38 of the first period to tie the game 1-1.

Perlini collected the puck in the slot and flicked a wrist shot past Darcy Kuemper for his second goal, giving the Blackhawks a 3-1 lead at 3:16 of the second frame.

Perlini nearly capped the hat trick less than four minutes into the third, but the puck bounced off Calvin Pickard and sat on the goal line before it was covered up.

Perlini eventually completed his hat trick with only 3.6 seconds remaining in the game.

It’s Perlini’s second mutli-goal game in his last five outings as he also potted two goals March 2 in Los Angeles. He only had two goals in 22 games earlier this season with Arizona.

The Blackhawks have scored five hat tricks this season.
