What a way to close out the homestand. Once again, Kings of The Fall San Jose Sharks will send the Hawks out on the Circus trip. Last year’s season series was a complete, drool-on-yourself, crack genie, straight-jacket-needed nutcase of games. Both games at the UC were OK Corral reenactments, with the teams splitting 6-5 decisions. Both games at The Tank were tight checking affairs, again with each team taking one victory.

The Sharks were in St. Louis last night, beating up the toddler that is the St. Louis Blues (that’s as much fun to write as you think it is). Though getting fisted on the shot-board (39-17) the Sharks still came out 3-1 winners. Nabokov started that one, so there’s a chance we may see Thomas Greiss tonight. But that’s not much of a let-up, he’s gotten of to a very solid start. You know the drill with the rest of the opponent. Their top two lines are loaded, and all of them are firing on all cylinders. Heatley scored a goal last night that only he and few others could manage, bringing in a rope of a pass on his backhand, getting it to the forehand and then burying it in the top corner from all of five feet out. Let’s hope that’s it for the weekend for him.

Just like the LA game on Monday, we here at the offices are ecstatic to watch Joe Thornton have to deal with John Madden all night. When more effort is required, Big Joe is far from a guarantee to provide it.

The Haws have to stay out of the box tonight, which they have these past three games. Any power play unit that rolls out Boyle, Marleau, Thornton, and Heatley is terrifying.

It’s bee a good home stand so far, but it could be a great one with two points tonight. We’ve covered JR enough on this blog, but should be a special one with his Heritage Night. Although, his claims his number should be retired are patently ridiculous. But so’s JR, and that’s partly why we love him. As always, be sure and pick up a copy of The Committed Indian on your way in, there are lawsuits to pay off.

Let’s Go Hawks.
