Blackhawks 2019 NHL draft guide: Who they’ll pick, draft needs, trends and more

The NHL draft is heading back to Vancouver for the first time since 2006, and just like back then the Blackhawks hold the No. 3 overall pick after moving up nine spots in the draft lottery.

Back in 2006, the Blackhawks selected University of North Dakota freshman Jonathan Toews, who became one of the top 100 players in NHL history, a Triple Gold club member, 2010 Conn Smythe winner and three-time Stanley Cup champion.

Chicago general manager Stan Bowman has six picks for this year’s draft, including two picks in the fourth. There’s plenty of intrigue about who he’ll select with the No. 3 overall pick — the highest pick he’s ever had in his tenure — and the domino effect it’ll have on the rest of the top 10 selections June 21 at Rogers Arena.
