Of the MANY disappointments that occurred during the Chicago Blackhawks’ 2023-24 season, the downward trajectory of Lukas Reichel has to be at/near the very top of the list. After finishing the 2022-23 season on an offensive surge by amassing 14 points (6 G, 8 A) in his final 19 NHL games, the majority of us assumed heading into last season that he was ready to take the next step in his development and establish himself. Not only as an everyday NHL player, but also as the Hawks’ second-best young forward.
What happened instead was emphatically not that.
