The Chicago Blackhawks’ path through the upcoming hockey season was revealed on Thursday afternoon with the full release of the 2026-27 NHL regular season schedule.
As mentioned on Wednesday, Chicago will open on the road on Tuesday, Sept. 29 against the Vegas Golden Knights for a 9:30 p.m. puck drop. Road games follow in Utah and Buffalo on that Thursday and Saturday, respectively, before Chicago returns to the Windy City for its home opener on Tuesday, Oct. 6 against the St. Louis Blues.

Highlights of the now 84-game schedule include:
Most of Chicago’s weeknight games at the United Center will start at 7 p.m. instead of 7:30, including that home opener against the Blues. Weekend games will primarily star in the afternoon, too.
A seven-game homestand from Oct. 10 to Oct. 27, giving the Hawks an early opportunity to use home ice advantage as a means of overcoming Connor Bedard’s expected absence of the lineup due to an offseason injury.
Chicago also has a five-game homestand Jan. 16-24 and another seven-game homestand from February 17 to March 1.
The longest road trip of the season — in terms of duration — splits those two homestands mentioned in the prior paragraph: a six-game stint from Jan. 26 until Feb. 11, with most of the games on the west coast. That break is interrupted by a week off for the Hawks in the first week of February for the NHL All-Star Weekend on Feb. 5 and 6 on Long Island.
The longest road trip of the season — in terms of distance traveled — comes just before Christmas, when Chicago heads to Dusseldorf, Germany for a pair of games against the Ottawa Senators on Dec. 18 and Dec. 20. Those games will have CT start times of Noon and 7 a.m., respectively.
