Two dates for the upcoming Blackhawks season were confirmed on Wednesday morning as part of a league-wide release.
Chicago will open the season out west on Tuesday, Sept. 29 against the Vegas Golden Knights for a 9:30 p.m. puck drop, a game which will be nationally broadcast on ESPN as part of the league’s opening night. One week later, the Hawks will play their first home game when they host the St. Louis Blues for a 7 p.m. start at the United Center.

Additional schedule details will be announced “soon,” per the team’s press release this morning, but the league-wide announcement of home openers put a few more Chicago games on the schedule.

After that opener in Vegas on the penultimate day of September, the Hawks will hop over to Utah to face the Mammoth on Thursday, Oct. 1 and then fly across most of the country to play on Saturday, Oct. 3 in Buffalo before the next game on the schedule is the aforementioned home opener on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Based on the amount of time between games, it’s fair to conclude those four are Chicago’s initial quartet of games in the 2026-27 season, which will feature 84 games.
That’s a four-game, eight-day stretch to open the season with games on opposite ends of the country in the mix and all three of the road games referenced being against playoff teams from the prior season. Certainly could’ve had an easier start to the 2026-27 season.
