Blackhawks have 6.5 percent odds at winning 2018 NHL Draft Lottery

The Chicago Blackhawks wrapped up the worst season in the Joel Quenneville-era with a 4-1 loss Saturday in Winnipeg, and finished with the seventh-worst record in the NHL.

The Hawks’ finish gives them the seventh best odds at 6.5 percent to win the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NHL Draft Lottery. The event, which will be held April 28 in Toronto, is used to determine the part of the league’s draft order.

Via the NHL, the Draft Lottery will consist of three drawings: the first Lottery Draw will determine the team selecting first overall, the second Lottery Draw will determine the team selecting second overall and the third Lottery Draw will determine the team selecting third overall.

The Buffalo Sabres finished in last place in the 31-team NHL, and have the highest odds to earn the No. 1 pick at 18.5 percent. Defenseman Rasmus Dahlin from Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League is the projected No. 1 pick.

Chicago, originally slated to draft in fifth place, won the 2007 lottery and selected Patrick Kane as the top overall pick.

The 2018 NHL Entry Draft will be June 22-23 at American Airlines Center in Dallas.
