Former Blackhawk of the Week: Anthony Duclair

Anthony Duclair was named the NHL’s second star of the week this past week. It’s no surprise considering he has five goals and six points in three games since Dec. 9. He’s the leading scorer for the Senators this season in goals (18) and points (25).

Duclair had eight points in 23 games while playing a little more than 13 minutes a game in Chicago, with all of his points coming at even strength. He also had 10 takeaways and just one giveaway. He was acquired in a trade with the Coyotes that included Richard Panik from the Blackhawks’ side.

Duclair had bounced around the NHL and AHL with the Coyotes since a 20-goal performance as a 20 year old before coming to Chicago. He had scored nine goals in 33 games with the Coyotes before that point, but only had five goals in 58 games the season before.

Since leaving the Blackhawks in free agency, Duclair scored 19 goals in 74 games last season split between the Blue Jackets and Ottawa and is now having perhaps his best season.

Elsewhere, Dominik Kahun has 17 points in 32 games with the Penguins this season, Henri Jokiharju has 10 points in 34 games and is averaging around 16 and a half minutes per game with the Sabres, and Brendan Perlini has one point in 19 games with the Red Wings.
