Artem Anisimov named NHL’s second star of the week

Who are the Chicago Blackhawks’ leading scorers, you ask? Why, they’re— Richard Panik and Artem Anisimov, with eight points apiece.

So, maybe not the names you would typically expect, but it is early in the season. Panik has gotten his recognition; he’s been a scoring machine to start.

But after this past week, Anisimov is right up there with them. He had a hell of a week, featuring four goals and three assists for seven points in the past seven days alone.

First, Anisimov had a four-point night against the Philadelphia Flyers, scoring two goals and two assists in a 7-4 win. He tacked on another assist a couple of days later in a loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets; then, the day after that, he scored twice against the Toronto Maple Leafs in a 5-4 shootout win.

So he was easily one of the best players of the week. Only Cam Talbot beat him out for first star recognition with an impressive goaltending performance.
