Blackhawks place Dylan Strome on injured reserve, recall Brandon Hagel from AHL
Hagel leads the Rockford IceHogs with 13 goals.
The Blackhawks placed Dylan Strome on injured reserve, retroactive to Jan. 7 with a right ankle injury, and recalled Brandon Hagel from Rockford in the AHL on Thursday.
Strome has missed the past four games with a right ankle injury after he sustained a right ankle when he got tangled up with Flames defenseman Oliver Kylington in Chicago’s 2-1 home loss to Calgary on Jan. 7. Strome has 30 points (10 goals, 20 assists) in 40 games this season, his first full season with Chicago since he was acquired in November 2018 from Arizona.
Hagel, who is known for his speed and competitive drive, leads the IceHogs with 13 goals and is 21 points are second to veteran Tyler Sikura’s 23. Chicago signed Hagel in October 2018 after the Sabres let 2016 NHL draft rights expires. He remained with the Red Deer Rebels of the WHL, scoring a career-high 102 points (41 goals, 61 assists) in 66 regular-season games and six points (four goals, two assists) in a first-round playoff series before joining Rockford at the end of the 2018-19 season.
The Blackhawks, who have won three straight and are 7-3-0 in their past 10 games, finish their three-game Canadian road trip Saturday against the Maple Leafs in Toronto.
