Blackhawks prospects get carved up by Bruins 8-2 in preseason

The Blackhawks’ AHL team, the Rockford IceHogs, allowed four first-period goals in an 8-2 loss to the Bruins on Saturday at TD Garden. Chicago sent Rockford head coach Derek King and his team to Boston because the NHL squad is in Berlin, Germany, ahead of the NHL Global Series.

Boston’s Jake DeBrusk and David Pastrnak each had a hat trick and assisted on another. Charlie Coyle had a goal and two assists and Torey Krug had three primary helpers. Tuukka Rask had a secondary assist and made 19 saves on 21 shots for the win.

Philipp Kurashev and Tim Soderlund scored for Chicago. Kevin Lankinen made 13 saves on 18 shots before he was pulled midway through the game as scheduled for last season’s ECHL starter Matt Tomkins, who made nine saves the rest of the way.

With a 4-0 first-period lead, Pastrnak added his second of the game at 8:55 of the middle frame after leveling defenseman Chad Krys behind the net — in what could’ve been called interference — and sniping a shot short side on Lankinen.

Kurashev ended Rask’s shutout at 11:13 of the second, when he took the puck away from Connor Clifton then faked a pass to Kris Versteeg before he fired a shot that bounced off Rask’s left arm and into the net.

Karson Kuhlman regained Boston’s five-goal lead midway through the second then Pastrnak and DeBrusk both completed their respective hat tricks in the third.

Soderlund added a goal with 46 seconds remaining in the game when Mikael Hakkarainen sprung him loose with a backhanded pass on a breakaway and the Swedish forward stopped in front of Rask and called bank off the left post.
