During an off day between a four-day, three-game homestand against the Lightning, the Blackhawks announced a trio of roster moves. Center Dylan Strome was placed on injured reserve retroactive to Feb. 19, while young defensemen Lucas Carlsson and Wyatt Kalynuk were recalled from the IceHogs.

Strome hasn’t played since a Feb. 19 game against the Hurricanes and was placed in the concussion protocol a few days later. In 19 games this season, Strome has 8 points (4 G, 4 A) but went without a point in his last six games before entering the protocol. His ice time also dwindled over his final four games, barely cracking the 12-minute mark in his last two appearances — well below his season average of 16:31.
Kalynuk, a former 2017 seventh-round pick of the Flyers who joined the Blackhawks in July after Philadelphia did not sign him, made a strong impression during his limited time in Rockford, leading the team with six points (1 G, 5 A) in just four games. Carlsson appeared in just one game while with the IceHogs, scoring a goal in that appearance. Carlsson has also played in 10 games with the Blackhawks this season but does not have an NHL point while averaging 12:43 of ice time.
While the Strome news appear to be a mostly procedural one, the recalls of two defensemen suggest that Calvin de Haan may have some lingering effects from the shot he blocked during the third period of Friday’s game against the Lightning. After blocking that shot, de Haan headed to the locker room and did not return in the third period or overtime.
Chicago returns to the ice on Sunday afternoon against Tampa for a 1:30 p.m. start at the United Center.
