Here’s the Blackhawks’ full 2017 preseason schedule
The games begin Tuesday.
The Chicago Blackhawks will open the 2017-18 preseason on Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The team unveiled its complete preseason schedule back in June, giving us the full slate of exhibitions before the real games begin next month.
The Hawks will have three home games during the preseason, starting on Thursday with the Detroit Red Wings visiting the United Center. The team will also host the Blue Jackets and Bruins for preseason games. Here’s the full schedule:
Blackhawks 2017-18 preseason schedule

---|---|---|---|
Tuesday, Sept. 19 | Blue Jackets | Nationwide Arena | 6 p.m. |
Thursday, Sept. 21 | Red Wings | United Center | 7:30 p.m. |
Saturday, Sept. 23 | Blue Jackets | United Center | 7:30 p.m. |

Thursday, Sept. 28 | Red Wings | Little Caesars Arena | 6:30 p.m. |
Saturday, Sept. 30 | Bruins | United Center | 7:30 p.m. |
The other notable matchup here comes on Sept. 28, when the Blackhawks head to Detroit to check out Little Caesars Arena for the first time. The Red Wings will be playing in their new building after leaving Joe Louis Arena at the conclusion of the 2016-17 season, and the Blackhawks will be one of the first teams to join them on the ice.
Last season, the Blackhawks went 2-4 during the preseason. The year before, they went 4-2. In 2015, prior to winning a Stanley Cup, they also went 2-4. The preseason’s arrival is always exciting, right up until we remember what preseason hockey looks like.
