KHL suspends Blackhawks prospect Artur Kayumov 13 games for head shot, punching official

Blackhawks prospect Artur Kayumov will serve a 13-game suspension for delivering a head shot to Jokerit’s Jesper Jensen and punching an official Friday. He will also have to pay a fine worth roughly $6,000.

Kayumov, who is in his first full KHL season with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, drove Jensen into the boards during’s Friday’s game. Jokerit’s Maki Tomi then went after Kayumov, who punched a referee that was trying to break up the scuffle.

Kayumov, 20, even tried to pump up the crowd as he was escorted off the ice by another referee.

4 games: Major penalty for checking to the head or neck

8 games: Injuring an official

The Blackhawks drafted Kayumov in the second round of the 2016 NHL draft with the pick from the Bryan Bickell and Teuvo Teravainen trade with the Hurricanes. Kayumov has four goals and seven assists in 34 KHL games this season.
