Teply, a fourth-round pick in this year’s NHL draft, is off to a strong start in his first season in North America with the WHL’s Winnipeg Ice. His 11 goals and 26 points pace the team through 26 games. The 6-foot-3, 192-pound winger is known for his stick handling and passing, but he’s shown off his quick release on his wrist shot this season as well.
The Czech Republic hasn’t medaled at World Juniors since they captured bronze in 2005, and they haven’t won the tournament since 2001. The upcoming world juniors will be from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in Ostrava and Trinec, Czech Republic.
