Blackhawks recall John Quenneville from AHL

The Blackhawks recalled forward John Quenneville from the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL on Sunday morning. The team did not make a corresponding roster move because a roster spot opened Saturday after Brandon Saad (right ankle) was placed on injured reserve, retroactive to Dec. 19.

Quenneville has eight goals and 13 points in 19 games this season, including eight points (four goals, four assists) in his past five games. The 23-year-old missed part of training camp with a hip injury then in the fourth game of the AHL season he sustained a right shoulder injury that caused him to miss nine games and almost a month of play.

The Blackhawks acquired Quenneville on June 22 from the Devils in exchange for forward John Hayden. Six days later the Blackhawks signed Quenneville to a two-year extension through the 2020-21 season. He had five points (two goals, three assists) in 37 NHL games across the past three seasons with the Devils, who selected him 30th overall in the 2014 NHL draft.

Quenneville could get a chance to play against his former team Monday when the Blackhawks host the Devils at 7:30 p.m. at the United Center.
