The Blackhawks recalled defenseman Ian McCoshen and have reassigned forward Matthew Highmore to the Rockford IceHogs in the AHL.
McCoshen, 24, has four assists in 13 AHL games with the IceHogs this season. He also had four assists in seven games with the Springfield Thunderbirds prior to be acquired from the Florida Panthers for winger Aleski Saarela.
McCoshen call up is in response to Blackhawks veteran defenseman Duncan Keith exiting the second period of Chicago’s 5-2 loss to the Avalanche with a groin injury. The Blackhawks play the second half of the home-and-home against the Avalanche on Saturday in Denver.
Highmore did not record a point in two games with Chicago.
