Blackhawks announce 52 players invited to training camp

The Chicago Blackhawks officially released their complete roster for training camp at the University of Notre Dame on Thursday. A total of 52 players will be convening for the next few days in the run up to next week’s preseason opener, including former defenseman Cam Barker.

In a somewhat unexpected move, Barker will be attending training camp with the team hoping to crack into Chicago’s deep d-man rotation. The 28-year-old spent the first few years of his career with the Hawks before being dealt to Minnesota as part of the deal that reeled in Nick Leddy.

Barker has become something of a journeyman the past few years, however, and didn’t even play in the NHL last season. His last stint came with the Canucks in 2012-13, though he only appeared in 14 games.
