In what appears to be the Blackhawks’ fourth and final trade of the day, defenseman Madison Bowey has been traded to the Canucks along with a fifth-round pick in exchange for a fourth-round pick, according to a report from Sportsnet’s Dan Murphy:
Canucks get Madison Bowie and 2021 5th from Chicago for 2021 4th

The move is of little consequence to the Blackhawks current situation, as Bowey had appeared in just two games this season with one assist. The move also keeps the Hawks at nine picks in the 2021 NHL Draft while jumping up one round.
Perhaps the bigger implication here involves the upcoming expansion draft for the Seattle Kraken. It was widely speculated that Bowey was added to the Hawks to be one of the players that helped fulfill’s Chicago’s quota of players exposed for that draft.
Ben Pope of the Sun-Times detailed what Bowey’s departure could mean for Calvin de Haan:
Bowey was signed to guarantee the Blackhawks would have a defenseman meeting the GP minimum to expose in the expansion draft.
Trading him to Vancouver makes it virtually certain the Hawks will expose Calvin de Haan, who has since hit the GP minimum.
