Cubs players brought the World Series trophy to Blackhawks-Stars

The Chicago Cubs continued their ongoing World Series championship celebration by visiting the Blackhawks before their game against the Stars on Sunday. Just a day after Anthony Rizzo, Dexter Fowler, and David Ross got jiggy wit it on Saturday Night Live, the Cubs had some prominent faces in attendance at the United Center.

Jason Heyward, Mike Montgomery, and Kyle Schwarber brought out the trophy before the game. They were joined by Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts and president of business operations Crane Kenney.

Ross was running late, but got to join them, too:

Ben Zobrist, a Eureka, Ill. native, hit a 10th-inning double off Bryan Shaw to break a 6-6 tie, and the Chicago Cubs outlasted the Cleveland Indians, 8-7, in Game 7 on Wednesday to win their first World Series championship since 1908.

The Chicago Blackhawks know how big a deal it is to break a title drought. The Hawks snapped a 49-year drought in 2010, and have gone on to win two more Stanley Cups since in 2013 and 2015. Each time the Hawks have taken the Cup to Wrigley Field, and fans have wondered when they’d see the Cubs win it all. The Cubs returned the favor Sunday night when they brought the Commissioner’s Trophy to the United Center.

The Hawks appreciated it:

It has become a tradition to tout the Cup around the city, and it appears the Cubs will be doing the same with their own trophy. Next stop: A Bulls game Monday?
