Despite rumors flying all over this morning – it sounds like Dany Heatley has finally been traded. For real this time.
As GracesWinstons said earlier – Darren Dreger of TSN said on twitter that it had become a two-horse race for Heatley. And unfortunately the Blackhawks were rumored to be one of those horses. Ultimately it seems San Jose won the race – sending Milan Michalek, Jonathan Cheechoo and Second Round pick for Ottawa’s left winger and a Fifth Round pick. That’s actually pretty steep for a guy who Ottawa couldn’t wait to get rid of.
So now Heatley gets what he wanted all along – a first round playoff exit next year.
UPDATE: Here’s a look at how the two sides are taking it – Fear The Fin is pretty excited about the trade. Getting Heatley does make the Sharks an even more dangerous team.
Silver Seven Sens are just happy it’s all over but aren’t sure if they got full value for Heatley.
