Doomsday Clock Is Ticking

The NHL and the NHLPA met today for the 4th time in the last 5 days. There might as well not been any meetings at all because the two sides have not gotten any closer. The last four meetings have all centered around hockey related revenue and no agreements could be made.

“No progress to report,” NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said today. “No progress has been made. Unless they show some willingness to compromise, I don’t know how we get this done.” There are no future meetings scheduled. That doesn’t sound good now, does it?

The NHL reports they have lost $100 million due to the cancellation of the preseason. They are about to lose a crap load more money as regular season games will be getting cancelled within the next day or two.

Can the NHL show a little bit of tact during the rest of this lockout and put a muzzle on its Twitter account. I don’t give a rat’s ass how many followers NHL has on Pinterest or what team is giving its fans 10% off hats in the shop zone. The next tweet I want to see from the NHL is that the lockout is over. Until then just step away from the keyboard.
