There are times where I feel like it was merely minutes ago, and others where it feels so long ago it might as well have been high school. Such has been this year, no?
Anyway, I thought I was going to write some long piece about this today, but it’s not necessary. It still remains one of, if not the best nights of my life. I got to share it with just about everyone I care about deeply in person, and I hope you did too.
To my grave, I will take the moment when I thought the Hawks had merely drawn a penalty and McClure, who had been standing to my right all night suddenly turned around in front of me and looked me in the eye with pure shock on his face, as my brother at the bar stood up behind him screaming, “GOOOOALLLLL!!!”, and then the Triumvirate leaped into each others’ arms as I poured my Bud over all our heads. I won’t ever lose that moment.
I’m sure you all have yours to sink into today. No reason not to.
