Obviously a slow news day, but I thought this was worth mentioning: The Hawks have signed Igor Makarov, who they took in the 2nd round in 2006. This kid has turned some heads in a couple prospect camps and I know there were more than a few fans eagerly awaiting his arrival on these shores. He figures to need at least a full season in Rockford, this guy hasn’t exactly lit up the KHL. But he’s a smooth skater and apparently has a pretty good hockey IQ. Keep half an eye on this one.
