Johnny Oduya got a ‘welcome back’ note at the Chicago airport
Oduya discussed coming back to Chicago following his trade Tuesday night.
It seems like pretty much everyone in Chicago is happy to have Johnny Oduya back around. The Blackhawks traded for the veteran defenseman on Tuesday night, and he flew in for practice on Wednesday. When he grabbed his bag at the airport after arriving, someone had left a note saying, “Welcome back.”
How sweet.

This is the second time Oduya has been traded to Chicago, but now he returns as a beloved fan favorite. The 35-year-old won two Stanley Cups during his first stint with the Hawks from 2012-15, and now he’ll have a chance to go for his third as part of a group that looks much different than the one he left two years ago.
We’re thrilled to get to see Oduya back next to Niklas Hjalmarsson, and it seems like he’s excited to have another shot at a Stanley Cup. He won’t play Wednesday night against the Penguins, but all around, it seems like everyone is pumped to have Oduya back in the fold.
