Morning Bag Skate: Blackhawks open 2015 training camp

The Chicago Blackhawks will open training camp Friday at the University of Notre Dame.

The team held a press conference Thursday with star forward Patrick Kane, who is the subject of a sexual assault investigation in Hamburg, N.Y.; Hawks president John McDonaugh; general manager Stan Bowman and head coach Joel Quenneville. Kane made his first public appearance and statement about the investigation, where he apologized for the distraction and said he is, “confident once all the facts are brought to light, I will be absolved of having done nothing wrong.”

The remainder of the press conference related to the organization deflecting questions about Kane’s status, and focusing on hockey-related questions. Quenneville also announced the team has named 3-time Stanley Cup-winner Brent Seabrook as the new alternate captain.
