Chicago Blackhawks traded backup goaltender Scott Darling to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a 2018 third-round pick Friday.
One day removed from signing a three-year contract, Nathan Noel scored a goal and assist in Saint John’s 4-0 win over Chicoutimi for a 3-2 series lead in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League semifinal. Matthew Highmore was scoreless for the Sea Dogs, who visit Chicoutimi for Game 6 Sunday.
Hawks prospect Alex DeBrincat was scoreless in the Erie Otters’ 4-2 win over Owen Sound in Game 5 to take a 3-2 series lead in the Ontario Hockey League’s Western Conference Final. Game 6 is Sunday at Owen Sound.
