Even though he has been awarded a star in 2 of the past 3 games I am going to cheat a little bit because I can.
If there has been one guy who has been playing really well the last few games, including during the loss last night against the Blows. Brandon Saad is in my opinion going to draw some serious Calder consideration or at least should. He was the third star against the Predators and first star during the blow out of the Wings, but Brandon Saad has just continued to impress me with his skill, calmness and speed.
Greg hit the nose on the head, Saader is probably the best investment if you are in line for a new Hawks jersey/t-shirt. He has 5 points in his last 3 games definitely earning the recognition. What will be interesting to see if is Saad has the capability to produce like this without Captain. I’d like to see if he has the potential to be able to carry a line with his play and improve others around him as opposed to maybe being improved from playing with Toews.
I’m not saying move him off the first line, more just a curious thought.
