NHL GameCenter Live Product Review

I have spent the last couple of nights trying out all the bells and whistles on this year’s version of NHL GameCenter Live. For the most part, it is a good product, especially if you are a die hard fan that does a lot of traveling. If you spend a lot of time on the road and in hotels than this is for you. If you are looking for a way to watch more games at home, on your TV, I would go with the Center Ice package if it is an option for you.

I did not have any issues streaming live games to my computer. The picture comes in HD quality and the sound, for the most part, is perfect. Other cool features on the website include DVR controls that lets you pause live games and create your own slow motion replays. You can also watch multiple games at once which is great for when the Hawks aren’t on and you can’t decide which Eastern Conference game to watch. They have added a library of classic games to watch which a nostalgia nut like myself is excited about. You can search these games by team, decade and even key players.

You can also watch games on your smart phones and tablets by downloading the free app. The iPhone app is a good one. It is good to have even if you don’t have a subscription for the live broadcasts. You can still follow the games live via the game trackers and get up to the minute stats and standings for free. The live streaming is not too bad on the iPhone as long as you have a good WiFi connection.

There are plenty of other devices to use in order to stream live games to your TV. There are apps for Apple TV, Xbox 360, PS3, Roku, Boxee and certain Sony devices. I was able to give the PS3 app a whirl and again it seemed to run smoothly. You can also download the app for free and get highlights and recaps with no subscription necessary.
