NHL’s return to play: Blackhawks’ training camp set to start July 10

The NHL and NHL Players’ Association announced Thursday that Phase 3 of the League’s Return To Play plan for the 24 teams resuming play will open July 10, provided medical and safety conditions allow it and an agreement from both parties.

On Monday, the League moved to Phase 2, which allowed players to participate in voluntary workouts of no more than six at a time at team facilities. Blackhawks forwards Alex DeBrincat, Patrick Kane and Alex Nylander and goaltender Malcolm Subban took the ice Wednesday at the team’s facility, Fifth Third Arena.

The length of training camp and potential start date for Phase 4, the formal resumption of play, will be determined at a future date. The Blackhawks, the No. 12 seed in the Western Conference, are slated to face the No. 5 seed Oilers in a best-of-five qualifying round series.
