Nick Leddy Gets New Paper

One of the two big RFA’s on the Blackhawks list has been taken care of, as Nick Leddy has signed a two year contract extension. The 22 year old’s new deal is for the next two seasons but no money details have been made public yet. The length is a bit of a surprise; I figured the new deal would be for four years. This will keep Leddy on his toes knowing that he is already playing for his next big contract. This also allows the salary cap maximum to go up so there will be more money available if the Hawks want to extent Leddy after the 2014-15 season. This leaves Marcus Kruger’s deal as the next order of business. Once that is done, and the financial terms are disclosed, we will know just how much Bowman has to play with to sign a backup goalie and any veteran help needed at defense and/or center.
