Olympic Hockey Day 1 Thread

Look, we don’t really want to work all that hard during this break (as opposed to the heavy sweat we work up when the Hawks are playing.  Seriously, it’s disgusting).  So we’ll just open up a thread for all the day’s action, and then recap it in the morning or something.  Anyway, there don’t appear to be too many games worth watching today, but here they are:

TEAM AMERICA, FUCK YEAH! vs. SWITZERLAND: USA at 2pm Central

Jonas Hiller could make this interesting for a period or two, but the Swiss really shouldn’t be able to stay with the Yanks for an entire game. If they do, to quote Hawk Harrelson, “THAT’S TROUBLE!”. Will be interesting to see what lines the US comes out with. Practice yesterday had the predicted Kane-Stastny-Parise line, which should do some damage. Dustin Brown-Ryan KeslerJamie Langenbrunner is a hell of a checking line, so I can only assume Pavelski is playing with Kessel and Bobby Ryan, but we shall see.

CANADA v. NORWAY: 5pm CNBC

Only question here is if Canada breaks double-digits.  Luongo gets the start in his home city, but no tears.  Apparently Norway’s hockey team likes to play like its soccer team.  Gum up the works, and punt it long.  Won’t work here.

RUSSIA v. LATVIA: 9:00pm CNBC

Pretty much the same story as the Canada game.

Have at it.
