Patrick Kane dekes out Sabres goalie for highlight reel goal

Playing in his hometown, Kane put on a show.

Patrick Kane scored his most impressive goal of the season to date playing in his hometown Sunday night. With the Blackhawks facing the Sabres in Buffalo, Kane delivered a third-period goal that’s already cemented its place in the year-end highlight reel.

Holy moly.

Robin Lehner hardly stands a chance once Kane goes into high gear. The goalie skates up to try to take away the angle and maybe even get a stick on the puck, but Kane gets him to briefly react to a shot fake before making a beautiful move to his backhand to wrap it in.

Artemi Panarin set up the play with a perfect diagonal pass through the ice onto Kane’s stick, and he did the rest of the work from there by single-handedly beating the goalie to give the Blackhawks a 5-1 lead.

Kane has now scored 20 goals, which is the 10th consecutive season that he’s reached that milestone. He’s not gonna come close to matching his career-high of 46 goals from a year ago, but with plays like this one, it’s clear that his scoring touch hasn’t gone anywhere.

Now here’s the celebration, for good measure:
