Blackhawks’ Corey Crawford gets new mask for Stadium Series

Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford has his equipment for the 2016 NHL Stadium Series against the Minnesota Wild on Feb. 21 at TCF Bank Stadium.

Crawford, who will play in his third outdoor game, has once again worked with Stephane Bergeron of La Griffe Originale, according to NHL.com’s Brian Hedger. Bergeron released pictures of the mask on his Facebook page last Wednesday.

“For this one, Corey asked to have a very simple design, a very, very basic design,” Bergeron told NHL.com. “When I sent him my first mock up, he didn’t like it. But a few days later he sent me his own rough drawing.”

Crawford’s No. 50 is painted in red on top of the helmet with the word “HAWKS” spelled across the bottom. Four red stars representing the Chicago flag are across the forehead part with a tri-stripe of white with red in the middle streaking past the ears. There are also snowflakes over the tri-stripe.

Crawford’s seven shutouts lead the league and his 31 wins rank second behind Washington Capitals’ Braden Holtby. He holds a 2.19 goals-against average with a .930 save percentage.

Crawford did miss one element for his mask.
