DENVER DUCK CALL: Mile High Hockey

So yeah, just do Thursday again, pretty much.

Everyone was accounted for at the morning skate this morning, so don’t expect any lineup changes. While I might like to see Sami Lepisto dusted off and thrown into the ruckus to give O’Donnell a break and to provide more speed against this Colorado track meet, I highly doubt that Coach Q is going to mess with a D that’s won three in a row and four of six on the season. You don’t mess with success, or some other cliche saying. Hey, even Marian Hossa practiced this morning!

The Avalanche aren’t scratching anyone new either, and Semyon Varlamov will once again be called upon to perform a laser show in net. However, according to Adrian Dater, coach Joe Sacco is hitting his own line slot machine and seeing what comes out. With Galiardi moving to center and Joakim Lindstrom and Chuck Kobasew moving down to play with him, the guess here is that Gabriel Three Yaks And A Dog and Ryan O’Reilly will be moving to the wings on the top lines. Most likely Sapsucker Frog with Duchene and Hejduk and O’Reilly with Stastny and Jones. Jay McClement will bump up the third line with Winnik and McLeod. But that’s just my best guess, and the fact that I’ve spent this amount of time thinking about the Avs lines makes me think it’s a lock that I will die alone, ugly, and dead one day.

No secrets here. The Hawks have to deal with a frantic Avs forecheck. Get past that and there’s an awful lot of space in between the blue lines. Once in the zone, if the Colorado d-men continue to chase Hawks behind their own net like a bunch of calf-ropers then the slot will be open for farming and plowing. However, if the Hawks get yippy with the puck, start turning it over or just firing scatter-brained out of the zone, there’s more than enough weapons in white tonight who can make you pay for it.

Four is better than three.

Note: This drill again. Tonight’s Indian’s have been sent out. If you haven’t gotten one and have signed up, please email me at committedindian@gmail.com. However, please check all your inboxes and spam folders before making me feel bad that I haven’t lived up to my end of the bargain due to technology I apparently can’t comprehend.
