IceHogs to wear extremely pink Rockford Peaches-inspired special uniforms

Have you ever wished that Ville Pokka, Anthony Louis, and Alexandre Fortin could channel Geena Davis, Madonna, and Rosie O’Donnell on the ice? SAY NO MORE!! The Rockford IceHogs are here to treat you on Jan. 26 with these Rockford Peaches-inspired uniforms, which are absolutely delightful, for “Pink at the Rink” night.

The Rockford Peaches was a women’s baseball club from 1943-54 in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. The team’s story was told in the 1992 film A League of Their Own, which made a whole bunch of money at the time and also starred Jon Lovitz.

The jerseys will also be made available to fans during the game as part of an auction with the proceeds benefitting breast cancer research. Two jerseys will also be raffled off at the game.

According to the press release announcing the jerseys, “the ice at the BMO Harris Bank Center will be dyed pink for the game,” so get ready to watch Blackhawks prospects play in pink jerseys on pink ice. It’s a fun way to raise money for a good cause, so I’m very much in favor of it.
