Watch: Slater Koekkoek scores first goal with Blackhawks

Defenseman Slater Koekkoek scored his first goal with the Blackhawks on Friday night against the Stars at the United Center in Chicago.

Koekkoek’s goal came in his 20th game with the Blackhawks since being traded from the Lightning. He joins forwards Dylan Strome, Brendan Perlini and Drake Caggiula as players to score a goal since being acquired mid-season via trade.

Chicago acquired Koekkoek and a 2019 fifth-round draft pick from Tampa Bay in exchange for defenseman Jan Rutta and a 2019 seventh-round draft pick in January. Prior to the trade, Koekkoek had one goal in nine games this season with the Lightning and 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 85 NHL games.

Koekkoek was selected by Tampa Bay with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2012 NHL draft.
