Tyler Motte leaves game vs. Stars with injury

Chicago Blackhawks forward Tyler Motte left the team’s game against the Dallas Stars after suffering an undisclosed injury Sunday night. The injury occurred in the second period, and the team has since announced that Motte will not return to the game.

The rookie was trying to make a tight turn to battle for the puck near the boards when he lost his balance. The momentum carried him into the boards with his legs extended,   then he got crunched by a Stars player:

At this point, it’s unclear what kind of injury Motte suffered or how long he might be out. The team recently got back Andrew Desjardins, who was out since early October with a foot injury.

Motte has recorded three goals and three assists in 13 games with Chicago this season.  He’s also spent significant time on the team’s fourth penalty killing forward, although that job may revert back to Desjardins if the two swap places in the lineup for now.
