Watch: Blackhawks’ Duncan Keith scores his first goal of the season

It took almost a calendar year, but Chicago Blackhawks veteran defenseman Duncan Keith finally scored his first goal of the season Thursday at United Center.

Keith’s goal came at 1 minute, 45 seconds of the second period against the Anaheim Ducks to give Chicago a 1-0 lead.

The power-play goal, the Hawks’ six in their last seven games, was Keith’s first since March 16, 2017. He had put 169 straight shots on net without scoring, according to Mark Lazerus of The Chicago Sun-Times. That stretch includes 67 games and 71 total games, including four playoff games, according to NBC Sports Chicago’s Christopher Kamka.

Keith, 34, has scored at least two goals in every season of his NHL career. His two-goal mark, the lowest of his career, came in only his second season with the Hawks in 2006-07. His career-high 14 goals came in the 2009-10 season, which was also his highest point total of his career with 69 points.
