Watch: Blackhawks honor Chris Kunitz’s 1,000th game in pregame ceremony

Prior to facing the Devils on Thursday night at the United Center, the Blackhawks honored one of its veteran players with an on-ice ceremony, commemorating the 1,000th NHL game of Chris Kunitz’s career.

The festivities featured a video that highlighted Kunitz’s career, including winning four Stanley Cup championships with three in nine seasons with the Penguins. He won his first Cup with the Ducks in 2007.

Kunitz’s former teammates Nick Bonino, Marc-Andre Fleury and Sidney Crosby made appearances in the video along with Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews.

A 15-year NHL veteran, Kunitz has scored 264 goals and 613 points in his career since being signed with the Ducks as an undrafted free agent out of Ferris State University in 2003.

It was the third 1,000th NHL game ceremony in less than a year the Blackhawks have held at the United Center. Blackhawks defensemen Brent Seabrook and Duncan Keith both reached the career milestone last March and October, respectively.
