World Juniors 2017: Dec. 30 schedule, TV, game thread

Chicago Blackhawks prospect Mathias From and Radovan Bondra will both be in action Friday at the 2017 World Junior Championship.

From and Denmark are already through to the quarterfinals after From’s overtime winner Thursday. If Switzerland beats Denmark, the defending champions Finland will be eliminated.

Bondra and Slovakia will meet Lativa. Both teams have yet to earn a point and are in a last-place tie in Group B. The game’s winner will avoid the relegation round.

Slovakia has proven to be the stronger team, being outscored 10-2 compared to Lativa’s 15-2 in two games. Lativa fell 10-2 to host Canada on Thursday. Both teams have faced Canada and the United States. Latvia dropped its opener 6-1 to the U.S., while Slovakia lost 5-2 and 5-0 to Canada.
