The Chicago Blackhawks will be without a first-round pick for the first time since 1996 when the league holds the 2015 NHL Draft this weekend in Sunrise, Fla.
The Blackhawks sent their first-round pick to the Arizona Coyotes for Antoine Vermette and their second-round pick to the Philadelphia Flyers for Kimmo Timonen. Chicago did receive a second-round compensation pick, 54th overall, for Kevin Hayes signing with the New York Rangers.
The Hawks have struck gold in the second round, notably with Duncan Keith, who just so happens to have been selected 54th overall. Brandon Saad (2011), Dave Bolland (2004), Bryan Bickell (2004) and Corey Crawford (2003) also are second-round picks who have won at least one Stanley Cup with the Hawks.
