2016 NHL Draft order: The Blackhawks’ picks and how they were acquired

The 2016 NHL Draft kicks off Friday night at First Niagara Center in Buffalo. While the Blackhawks don’t have any picks in the first round, so they won’t be in action until Saturday barring a last-minute trade, they’re still in for a very busy weekend with lots of picks in the later rounds.

The Hawks don’t have their own first- and second-round selections this year. The team traded its first-round pick (No. 22 overall) to the Jets in February as part of the Andrew Ladd deal. The second-round pick (No. 52 overall) was included in last year’s Kimmo Timonen trade as a conditional pick if the Hawks won the Cup, so it’s now the Flyers‘ property.

GM Stan Bowman isn’t without possibilities in Buffalo, though, especially after trading Andrew Shaw to add two more 2016 picks. Last year, the team drafted Graham Knott, Dennis Gilbert, Ryan Shea, Radovan Bondra, Roy Radke, Joni Tuulola and John Dahlstrom with its seven selections.

Here’s the complete 2016 NHL Draft order, and below, we have a list of the Hawks’ draft picks and how each one was acquired.
