5 Blackhawks prospects advance to second round of Canadian Hockey League playoffs

The Chicago Blackhawks will have five prospects play in the second round of their respective league’s playoffs in the Canadian Hockey League.

Chicago’s Radovan Bondra and Graham Knott were knocked out of the playoffs. Bondra had five points (two goals, three assists) in six playoff games for Prince George of the Western Hockey League. Knott had four points (two goals, two assists) in a seven-game series against London of the Ontario Hockey League. Knott’s season isn’t over though as Windsor hosts the Memorial Cup, which begins May 17.

Alex DeBrincat (RW) – Erie

DeBrincat scored four goals and 11 points for Erie, who swept Sarnia in the opening round. The Otters will face London, who defeated Windsor in seven games, in the conference semifinals.

Alexandre Fortin (LW) – Rouyn-Noranda

Fortin had eight points in six games for Rouyn-Noranda, who beat Halifax in the first round. The defending QMJHL champions will play Chicoutimi in the second round. Chicoutimi swept Victoriaville in the opening round.

John Dahlstrom (LW) – Medicine Hat

Dahlstrom recorded three goals and five points in Medicine Hat’s sweep of defending WHL champion Brandon Wheat Kings. The Tigers will face Lethbridge in the next round. The Hurricanes defeated Red Deer in seven games to advance.
