2018 Stanley Cup playoffs: April 13 open thread

With the first two days of the Stanley Cup playoffs in the books, Game 2 action gets underway Friday.

The evening slate will feature series with teams on one day of rest and home team holding a 1-0 series lead. The two-time reigning Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins host the Philadelphia Flyers, while the Winnipeg Jets look for their second playoff win in franchise history against the Minnesota Wild.

Like the Jets, the Vegas Golden Knights will also be trying win their second playoff game against the Los Angeles Kings. Vegas is only the third NHL team to have a shutout in its playoff debut during its inaugural season, joining the New York Rangers (1927) and the St. Louis Blues (1968).

Both Pittsburgh and Vegas shut out their opponents behind the play of the two goaltenders who helped the Penguins win the last two Stanley Cups: Marc-Andre Fleury (Vegas) and Matt Murray (Pittsburgh). Fleury made 30 saves, while Murray stopped 24 shots for his third straight shutout in the playoffs.
