2018 Stanley Cup playoffs: May 5 open thread

There are two Stanley Cup playoffs games Friday, with both series tied 2-2.

In the Eastern Conference, the Washington Capitals looked to continue their successes in Game 5s. The Capitals, who have fallen to the Pittsburgh Penguins the last two seasons in the second round, have won five consecutive Game 5s when the series is tied. The Penguins, meanwhile, have waddled their way to a 4-1 mark on the road during this year’s playoffs. In the previous two postseason series, Washington trailed Pittsburgh 3-1 heading into Game 5.

Out in the Western Conference, the Nashville Predators clawed their way back into their series against the Winnipeg Jets with a 2-1 win in Game 4. Both Jets’ victories in the series have been answered by the Predators, and now the teams face a best-of-three series for a spot in the conference final.
