2018 Stanley Cup playoffs: Eastern Conference Final Game 7 open thread

The Eastern Conference Final comes to an end Wednesday.

The Tampa Bay Lightning will host the Washington Capitals in Game 7 at Amalie Arena with the winner advancing to face the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup Final, which starts Monday.

A Lightning win will have the Cup Final start in Tampa, Florida, while a Washington victory means Vegas will host the opener.

For the third time in the past four years, the Lightning will play Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Final.

In 2015 and 2016, they failed to close out the series against the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins, respectively. Tampa Bay beat the Rangers in Game 7, but fell to the Penguins — both games on the road. The Lightning also dropped Game 7 in the conference final in 2011 at Boston.

A win will put the Lightning in the Cup Final for the second time in three years and third time in franchise history.

Washington has never played a Game 7 in the conference final in its history.
