The Blackhawks will face a tough task Saturday when they face the Maple Leafs at the NHL Prospect tournament in Traverse City, Michigan.
Nicholas Robertson scored twice in Toronto’s 6-2 win over the Blues on Friday. Four of the Maple Leafs’ six goals came on the power play. Semyon Der-Arguchintsev also recorded two assists and Ian Scott stopped 19 of 21 shots.
Chicago also won its opening game of the tournament, with Adam Boqvist scoring 43 seconds into overtime for a 5-4 victory over the Red Wings. Kirby Dach, MacKenzie Entwistle and Brandon Hagel each had a goal and an assist. Alexis Gravel made 27 saves, including a diving stop in the final minute to force overtime.
Free-agent invitee Nick Kossoff (NCAA Lake Superior State) will get the start in net for Chicago. Defenseman Jake Ryczek (2016 seventh rounder), who is also on an AHL deal, takes over on the third pairing with Cole Moberg in place of Jack Ramsey.
Another free-agent invitee Sean Josling (OHL Sarnia) will take Michal Teply’s spot at right wing on the second line. Teply will move to the fourth line and Cole Purboo (OHL Windsor) and Reese Johnson. Liam Coughlin will sit out.
